Schauspieler
Malcolm McDowell
Malcolm McDowell ist ein britischer Schauspieler, der als Gewaltverbrecher und Resozialisierungsopfer Alex im Kultfilm Uhrwerk Orange (1971) von Stanley Kubrick Filmgeschichte schrieb.
Der in Leeds geborene Malcolm McDowell spielte bereits in seinem ersten Leinwandauftritt die Hauptrolle. Das war 1968 und das Jugenddrama hieß If…. 1979 war der Schauspieler dann im äußerst umstrittenen Sandalenfilm Caligula von Tinto Brass in der Titelrolle zu sehen, der wegen vermeintlich pornographischen Inhalts und explizierter Gewaltdarstellungen heftig angefeindet wurde.
Nach Rollen in so unterschiedlichen Filmen wie dem Fantasy-Thriller Katzenmenschen (1982) an der Seite von Nastassja Kinski oder der Komödie Sunset – Dämmerung in Hollywood (1988) von Blake Edwards war Malcom McDowell 1994 als Wissenschaftler Dr. Soran in Star Trek VII – Treffen der Generationen zu sehen und spielte im Horrorfilm Halloween (2007) den Psychiater Dr. Sam Loomis. In der jüngeren Vergangenheit stand der Schauspieler unter anderem neben Gary Oldman im Thriller The Book of Eli (2010) und im oscarprämierten Spielfilm The Artist (2011) als Butler vor der Kamera.
